Made by Mob
"It has stopped me from doing crime because Made by Mob on Friday and Saturdays keeps me busy."
— Made by Mob Participant
Built around a gap. Built around young people.
Made by Mob is for Indigenous young people aged 7 to 17, and was launched in 2024 in direct response to what young people told us they needed. When young people exiting youth detention shared that they had been learning carpentry skills but had nowhere to continue or progress these skills when they left detention, Yiliyapinya listened.
Made by Mob was built around that gap, and around the young people themselves.
Under the guidance of an experienced carpenter, participants design, construct and decorate high quality picnic tables from start to finish, each one completed with original cultural artwork.
Delivered on Friday evenings and Saturdays, the program runs during the times young people are most at risk, offering purpose, skill and connection precisely when it matters most.
Made by Mob builds more than tables. It builds cognitive foundations, cultural strength and a pathway toward a self-determined future.
Every table carries the marks of skill, creativity and cultural pride.
Young people in the Made by Mob program demonstrate:
Stronger confidence, pride and sense of identity
Improved executive function, decision making and emotional regulation
Deeper connection to cultural art and expression
Practical, transferable skills with recognition toward a construction certificate
Reduced offending behaviour during program hours and beyond
These tables are available to buy. Every purchase is reinvested into the work Yiliyapinya does with children and young people. Tables can be purchased as a single table or through a bulk procurement arrangement.
